Regional Reference Laboratory In the spring of 1991, Kaiser Permanente formed a project team to construct a new Regional Reference Lab in North Hollywood, California. As the teams project control consultant, Intelisyn, Inc. provided the hub between the Owner, the general contractor, 2 architectural firms, 3 engineering firms as well as 3 other consulting firms.
After minor site demolition and utility upgrades, a three story, stand alone steel framed structure, complete with a new 167 space, grade-level parking lot and landscaping, was built. The building accommodates the major program requirements of the Serology, Bacteriology, Virology, Special Chemistry and Histopathology Departments, as well as various other laboratory support departments.
An exhaustive subsequent analysis has revealed that as a Project Controller, Intelisyn saved Kaiser 45 times their fee on the project, in total, over 3 million dollars throughout the preconstruction and construction phases. The analysis has pin-pointed 13 specific areas of qualified savings, from subcontractor reviews, to fee negotiation, to payment review.
