FEMA / OES Claims Assistance

Following the Northridge Earthquake of January 17, 1994, Kaiser Permanente enlisted the services of Intelisyn, to help gather, organize and present damage information to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the California Office of Emergency Services (OES).

Damage had been sustained in over 38 separate locations, affecting the operations of 3 medical centers. Most of the damaged locations were within 5 miles of the earthquake’s epicenter.

One medical office building, and several parking structures were rendered useless after the quake.

Intelisyn’s client’s FEMA claims for the Northridge Earthquake damage exceeded 60 million dollars. To develop these claims, Intelisyn provided the following services: production and coordination of all documents required by FEMA/OES inspectors to complete their damage survey reports (DSR), scope development and description for bid documents and FEMA/OES, preliminary scheduling and estimating tasks, site logistics and phasing studies, cash flow models and projections, development of an accounting model incorporating the Owner’s insurance tracking requirements with FEMA/OES requirements (eliminating the duplication of accounting).
